Home Lunch & Frostbite Cruise Sunday 10 February Updated 10Feb2008

Join us for Sunday Lunch at the Clubhouse (12.30 for 1.00pm), to be followed by a cruise up river to Sunbury Lock.

The logistics of the cruise are very much dependent on weather and stream, but the general idea is to sail cruisers, bigger dinghies and the safety boats upstream to Sunbury Lock, with each boat seeking answers to treasure-hunt type questions (i.e a sort of water-based car rally). If conditions are not suitable then we will organize other activities in the Clubhouse. The games equipment will also be available

The afternoon will conclude with tea and cakes.

Lunch must be booked in advance either by emailing Nigel Knowlesor signing up on the notice board at the Club by Wed. 6 Feb. at the latest.

Details

The conditions were brilliant, sunny and exceptionally warm for February, for the lunch and treasure hunt cruise prepared and organised by Nigel Knowles.

There was a potential problem because a Molesey Rowing Club Head of River Veterans race was going to be taking place but by the time we were ready to go the rowers weren’t a problem because they had finished.

Nigel, helped by Pat Irving, provided a super 3 course meal of soup, various varieties of sausage and mash, with a Mrs Bodgit’s apple crumble sweet for 25 members.

Don & Helen Barnet took their cruiser with Anna, Julia & Lydia Iremonger, Liz Archer and Joan Courtney; Bryan Clements took Rescue 1 with Joan Courtney, Oonie, Robbie & Dominic Lunnis and Michael & Ben Chips; Richard Cannon took Rescue 2 with Stuart, Mike & Jean Hendra; Graham Thompson took his rowing boat with Dave Jennings; Simon and Hanna Lunniss canoed.

The course was down to Platts Eyot and then up to Sunbury Lock with a sheet of questions to be answered by observing clues visible during the trip.
