Burns Night 2016

On the cold evening of Saturday 23rd January 27 members gathered at the Aquarius Sailing Club to celebrate Scottish poet Robbie Burns.

We started by tucking into a large bowl of cock-a-leekie soup and chunks of bread. After we had all finished our Commodore turned into a Scotsman and started to read a poem to welcome in the haggis, not many people could understand the strange words coming from his lips, but it sounded great. The haggis, which was served with Tatties and Neeps, was eaten with great gusto.

We all started to get full, but then came a delicious traditional Scottish dessert, Cranachan, full of cream, great for the figure! A dram came along which nearly finished me off.

Then came the next Scotsman for the night, who started to play Scottish tunes on his violin and tell stories in a great Scottish accent.

Many thanks to Rodger, Linda and helpers. What A Great Evening.
