Having excelled themselves with a couple of paint brushes at the 22nd October Working Party the Nettle ladies decided they would like to host a Wednesday evening budget supper. With the season rapidly drawing to a close the 2nd November was picked as a date that fitted perfectly between Halloween and the Annual Dinner.

The day was damp and the evening provided a drenching with the trip to the club more like a ride in the patrol boat than a car journey. When we arrived there were a few brave souls and the Nettles were even there on time so the start was good. As usual things ran a bit later than planned but that allowed for the late comers to wade in swelling the numbers to eighteen.

Eat Goes On - Mike Hendra

When it came the mushroom soup was certainly worth the wait and the cheesy feet that came with it were surprisingly tasty too. When the chilli con carne arrived it hit the spot equally well, not too hot, and we thought there would be no room for afters but how wrong we were. Apricot and almond cake  with custard, After Eight Mints then honey rum and we were replete. Phew!!

I think we were all so stuffed we hardly noticed the rain and we were soon home. So thanks to the Nettles with Chris in hand and I am sure I can say a great evening was had by all. As always we had our usual tame bar person with Nigel filling the role ably aided by Rodger with the honey rum bottle. We finished with the fold up free for all with tables and chairs stowed by the dinners so thanks to everyone who made the evening great. Who needs sailing?
