The Cundy long distance race was held because the SE wind seemed
favourable; it was concurrent with the Summer 11 race. Mike Baker was
1st on PH (and BH) so won the Cundy Trophy. The upstream mark was
just above the downstream end of Rivermead Island at Sunbury; it was
dropped
ahead of the lead boat 25 minutes into the race aiming for a race time
of 1 hour. Unfortunately the wind died near the mark; Mike had a huge
lead and finished at 55 minutes, 20 minutes ahead of the next boat
and an hour ahead of the last finisher; the mark should have been
further downstream taking Mike's big lead into account. In future we
need to also consider the rest of the fleet when dropping the top mark.
