Normally the Cundy Trophy long distance race is held when there are good conditions with an East wind concurrent with the 15:30 race.

The up stream mark was dropped ahead of the lead boat 20 minutes into the race near the Channel Markert at Sunbury. Graham Thompson was 1st on PH (and BH) so won the Cundy Trophy,
