Have you ever fancied trying sailing? Well here’s
your chance!

There was very exiting sailing at Hampton SC with
AQSC coming second.
On Saturday 3 May 2003 it is time for the Mid Thames Trophy inter club
and fun event again.
Come and help your club do even better this year;
we have been 2nd for the last 2 years, and the top Hampton sailors will
be away. We are allowed to have up to 10 starters so it is open to
every one. Even if someone only does one race if they are in the top 4
Aquarius boats for that race they will have helped the club.
The event is for Aquarius, Littleton, Desborough,
Staines, and Hampton Sailing Clubs; this year it is being run by
Hampton SC so it will be very easy for our members to get there. We
will be leaving AQSC at 10:00pm with the safety boat.
There will be a briefing at 10:30am and a morning
handicap race starting at 11:00am. After lunch there will be 2 more
races, and then tea and prize giving around 4:30pm. All three
races count with the the top 4 boats of each club in each race counting
for the trophy. Two handed boats being sailed single handed should be
having their handicap reduced by around 42 (Equivalent to 4.2 on AQSC
club handicaps).
On Sunday 4 May 2003 there will be training and
fun racing at Aquarius; they won't count towards the years results so
very suitable for new members.
Commodores Quiz Night
Saturday 26 April 2003 7:30pm for
8:00pm
Come down to the club for an evening of Games,
Quiz's and Questions. Pizza and a selection of fruit will be available
to keep the wolf from the door and the newly revamped bar will be open
to serve your favourite libation.
There will be chocolates on the tables and a new,
rather handsome, 'quiz night' trophy will be awarded to the winning
team. All this and stunning views of the river ... what more could you
want ?
Over the last few weeks a great deal of work has
been done inside the club; come and see the results. More.
Our
commodore gave us a very entertaining and different evening.
There were excellent conditions but they were full
of incidences.
This was a great success and was there was
reasonable sailing the next day.

off with the Start of Season Party on Saturday 29 March 2003 at 8pm.
Our talented long time member Pat Halling and
friends will be providing the musical entertainment and there will be
plenty of free food.
Come along and give them your support.
The sailing starts on Sunday 30 March with the fun
race at 11:30. For a change we have had a spell of dry weather and
there is practically no current so we should be able to have a good
sail.

1Jan2003 The new
year is starting with flood conditions.
Today some members have been along the moorings
securing boats that should have been tied down; getting very wet and
cold feet in the process due to the water coming over the top of
wellies.
Members should check their boats and for safety
wear a life jacket and take someone with them; unsecured dinghies could
be washed away and cruisers could be left stranded on the bank. The
water is rising fast.
