Vice Commodore’s Report - Graham Thompson

The sailing season is drawing to a close and competition has been, well, confusing.

A week ago as race officer I could be seen basking in the sun on the quarterdeck, bitter shandy in hand, having sent those pesky sailors on a looooong distance 'fun' race up river.

Then yesterday there they were again fighting it out for the capsize cup, or rather the stuffed water rat which has peered out from the back of my wardrobe through several winters.

Quite why the ladies do not embrace this hallowed symbol of manly endeavour, Charlie capsizing 21 times in one race and last seen spurning helping hands as he raised his mast in a downpour, or Keith's graceful capsize while moored, I cannot imagine.

Two pieces of business to save you from further musings.  A questionnaire has been sent out to gauge your opinions and help us form our development plans.  Please respond.  The AGM is approaching and the committee will no doubt be looking for an infusion of fresh blood.
