WORKING PARTY 11Mar2000 - Richard Cannon |
There was extremely good support for the working party with 18 members making a big impact on the list of tasks that Bryan Clements had organised to keep members busy. |
Charles Dennis, Rodger Wheeler and Pat Halling rowed over but Charles had to be taken in tow after his oar broke. |
The tasks tackled included general cleaning of the club house, painting the Bar area and mounting the new ‘Role of Honour’ board, repair the roof over the kitchen, fit two extra shelfs in a kitchen cupboard, repair chairs, mowing and strimming the trailer park, clean up the slip way, paint the rescue boat floor boards and gunwales, clean the windows, paint the club top frontage, sand and preserve the lower frontage panels, identify and document the function of all the fuses, weed and dig the garden area, paint the concrete pillars and river edging, fit a flood light in the car park. |
The highlight of the day was the reward of a sit down lunch of beef casserole (or vegetarian lasagne) and rice prepared by Joan Bray helped by Joan Garrett, with bread and salad by Margaret Tomkins helped by Mary Dennis. Almost a 2nd Annual dinner. |
A lot was achieved and there was a great feeling of camaraderie though out the day. Many thanks for the effort put in by everyone. |
