Hungarian Gypsy Music Evening
Over recent years Pat Halling and a variety of his musician friends have staged many musical evenings at Aquarius. Strings, harmonicas and wind instruments have all been featured.
This year Pat elected to introduce Hungarian gypsy music and what an evening it turned out to be. Fiery and passionate described the music which was matched by an equally hot and spicy goulash supper prepared by our equally fiery and passionate gypsy chef, Diana Carpenter (sorry Di, couldn't resist that!) with the help of her brother Richard Cook who provided the Goulash and Eiko Thompson who provided the rice.
Pat is amazingly talented on the violin, as were his fellow musicians John Sutton, Musical Director Hampton Choral Society, on double base and Eddie Hession, one of Europe's finest accordionists, on piano accordion.
The programme they presented was varied and engaging and I felt very privileged that they were prepared to take time out and come and entertain us in this way. Thanks guys for a wonderful evening. Thanks also to Rodger for organising everything and to Diana for the superb gypsy supper.
