Virtual Sailing |
One way of overcoming the fickle English weather, and still enjoy a days sailing, is to do it virtually. You just pour yourself a generous measure of falling down water. Settle back at the helm (i.e. your armchair) put your feet up and logon. |
So (Cruise or race?) just click on the mouse (or maybe that should be water rat) and away you go. Single-handed or crewed? How energetic are you feeling? Skipper or helm a Whitbread Round-the-World Yacht? No problem. Capsize? Easy, just press reset! And away you go again. Got lost? Just update the GPS, tell it where you want to go and switch on the autopilot. Need more (or less) sail. Click a button. Need another G&T, press Pause, and replenish at leisure. As the advert says, how civilised. Hey! Don't knock it till you've tried it, that's what I say! |
