I have been saying for some time that more of you should take advantage of the opportunity to sail at Bewl. It’s as near perfect a sailing venue as you will find anywhere. Good facilities, clubhouse, food and best of all big open water sailing. I hate to say it but if you think sailing on the river is what it’s all about, try Bewl. You will never look at river sailing in quite the same w10ay again.

This year we had a very good turn out, five SigneTs, two Picos, a Bosun and a Pacer and some twenty-five people. The weather was a bit overcast and the wind struggled to reach F3, although there was the odd bit of planing, but everybody seemed to enjoy themselves.

This was a first 2010 sail for Over Easy and she was joined by John Panting in ST924 (Sunset) and Richard Cannon in ST368 (June), Keith Hatton with ST858 (Saint) and Rob Britton & his girlfriend Liz with ST749 (Ugly Duckling). Edmond and Imogen Morris sailed one of the Picos while Team Lunniss used the other Pico and the Pacer. John Neale and Rodger Wheeler sailed the Bosun and her large sail seemed to make the most of what wind there was.

There was no racing but cruising on Bewl is always a pleasure. Many thanks to BVSC for allowing us to go and enjoy their facilities. The day ended with the usual trip to ‘The Grasshopper’ at Westerham for a jar or two and something to eat.
