Unfortunately there have been a lot of Sundays with very little wind sometimes combined with current so often the sailing has been poor. It is the first year since at least 1992 that we have had no sailing on two consecutive Sundays due to the conditions. In contrast the conditions for sailing at Bewl in August could not have been better. During July, August and September there was very good support for training and fun sailing on Wednesday afternoons, particularly by our junior members. Liah Farmer in particular organised groups of youngsters to come down. We had 6-8 boats out and up to 15 people at the club. They often stayed well in to the evening using the games facilities in the clubhouse. On one Wednesday we had 21 members and friends visit the club including a man in his 80s who was taken out to experience his first sail. Bryan Clements was very useful helping with the Wednesday sessions. Sunday sailing has been well supported, in spite of the poor conditions, generally with 7-10 boats out. Aquarius members were very successful in the Signet National Championship held at Ullswater, 5 of the 20 boats were from Aquarius. Mark Hollamby and Richard Cannon tied for first place and Mark won by the tie break. Madeline Hatton took the Ladies cup with 6th place. Mike Baker and Laurie Bridges were 11th and 12th. Except for the Sunday practice race, when there was no wind, there were very good sailing conditions with generally force 3-4 wind from various directions.
