On a rather overcast morning on May 20th a large group of members and friends met at the Club prior to driving to the Hurtwood Hotel, Peaslake for lunch. This turned out to be a very pleasant venue serving a most agreeable lunch. After wining and dining we progressed to Coverwood Lakes. This property is owned by the Metson family and is only open on a few days per year. It is a lovely landscaped garden best seen when the rhododendrons and azaleas are at their magnificent best. After an introductory talk by Mrs. Metson we wandered admiringly through the gardens and the 3˝ acre arboretum planted in 1990. After the garden walk we had the option of a farm trail which took us high up and the views were absolutely wonderful set as we were adjacent to Holmbury Hill. To round this off we had home-made cakes and tea and the opportunity to buy a plant or two as a momento. A lovely afternoon. Thanks must be given to Madeline for the idea and organising everything for us.
